Day #1 (July 20th, 2023): Today, I started on the design for the printer bot. I started to make the brainstorm design on Google Slides, where we labeled the appropriate motors, inputs, and outputs (here is the link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XuJlQKk_F9pkN3PoJDvf3yqbdUhDV5__Sir3GjtI38Q/edit?usp=sharing ).
We also made the brainstorm document for our robot (here is the link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YPtSpXayC-7Mrn2KyDef9yljc8OAefL-0QTt_zvz3jA/edit ).
Lastly, we started on the robot design as shown below:

Day #2 (July 24th, 2023): Today, my partner and I changed up the design of the printrbot, as shown below. We also agreed on the purpose of this bot being that it can engage in a drawing contest with the user. Copy and paste the following link in order to see our progression in the rough sketches: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XuJlQKk_F9pkN3PoJDvf3yqbdUhDV5__Sir3GjtI38Q/edit#slide=id.g2595b4ab80b_0_0
We also made progress on the hardware aspect of the printrbot. We were able to attach a sensor to the robot, along with connecting the the two wheels together, as shown below.

Day #3 (July 26th, 2023): Today, we were able to almost finish the hardware aspect of our robot with only 4 steps left! However, we did encounter a problem as we were unable to find a critical piece to our printrbot, which led me to apply an innovative solution: that is, I cut the tire in half and wrapped it around a cylindrical object and then I wrapped it around with tape. Through this, the wheels could now perform their appropriate function! The image below is the progress that we made today.
Day #4 (July 27th, 2023): Today, my partner and I were successfully able to finish the hardware aspect of making the robot. Our original design was faulty as the paper would always be bent and hence harder to draw on. That's why I decided to add a tray mechanism in order to hold the paper while the robot is using the pen to draw it. Additionally, we were also able to program the robot such that it can detect the white color of the paper using the color sensors between the ranges 543 and 555 using the 'Reflected Raw' mode.
Day #5 (July 28th, 2023): Dr. Dad-del provided us with a shorter amount of time to work on our robot. For this reason, my partner and I were able to complete the first task of our robot: that is, to check if the paper is being detected by the sensor and hence move the pen down. If it isn't detected by the color sensor, then the pen would stay up. We used the setMotorTarget() function in order to execute this.
Day #6 (July 31st, 2023): This is the final week of COSMOS, so my partner and I devoted all of our time to this printrbot. We decided to split up the tasks in order to make it more time-efficient for the both of us. My partner worked on the dropdown menu, whereas I drew our first drawing: the ice cream. This image was definitely challenging as there were motors that control each aspect and hence make it harder to draw two diagonals and a semi-circle. The two images shown below demonstrate the robot drawing the images with multiple trials.

Day #7 (August 1st, 2023): Today, my partner was able to finish the dropdown menu of the images that the robot will draw an image. I was able to finish drawing a drink with a straw on top as shown in the figures below. After I was able to draw this drink, my partner and I were able to merge the code for the drink with the code for the dropdown menu and the code for the ice cream.
Day #8 (August 2nd, 2023): My partner and I were able to finish the completion of our robot! We added another image -- a squash with sunglasses -- and added this to the dropdown menu along with the original codes (for the ice cream and the drink). We will start tomorrow with our presentation in Canva, script, and board.
Day #9 (August 3rd, 2023): Today, my partner and I finished the recording of our demo of the our printrbot on Canva (here is the link: https://www.canva.com/design/DAFqmtyKC_0/ENEinkNt2FmL7e-akkn47w/edit?utm_content=DAFqmtyKC_0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton).
We also finished the presentation which was also done on Canva (https://www.canva.com/design/DAFqb1eCpTQ/SXGaY9nsAw0CQdF7OJ3z8w/edit?utm_content=DAFqb1eCpTQ&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton).
Lastly, we started on our poster board for Saturday, as shown below!

Day #10 (August 4th, 2023): Today, we presented our 'Ignite Talk' in front of our professors and Cluster 5 classmates.
